When I became a mother, I found myself navigating a contradiction I wasn't prepared for. Caring for a child was filled with moments of joy, connection, and wonder, but it also brought exhaustion, vigilance, repetition, and a gradual reshaping of my own identity. I was struck by how often these experiences existed side by side, despite cultural narratives that tend to simplify caregiving into something either wholly beautiful or wholly difficult.

As I moved through the early years of parenthood, I began noticing the traces caregiving left behind. They appeared in worn objects, interrupted creative practices, baby monitor screens, scribbled marks on shared surfaces, and in the constant mental work of attending to another person's needs. Many of these moments felt deeply significant, yet largely invisible.

Creating this work became a way of paying attention to those traces. Through drawing, embroidery, and installation, I spend time with the ordinary artifacts and experiences of caregiving, transforming them through slow and repetitive acts of making. In doing so, I hope to honor the complexity of care and the countless ways it shapes who we become. This ongoing body of work is entitled Footprints of Care.
