Exploring who holds power, whose labor is valued, and how identity is shaped.

HELLO

Hi, I’m Carrie. I’m a visual artist and art educator whose work has been shown in short term exhibitions at The Smithsonian and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

My practice explores how power, labor, and identity are shaped through systems like work, caregiving, and authority. I work across drawing, painting, and collage to look at what is seen, what is valued, and what is often overlooked.

I’m currently developing three connected bodies of work: honoring anonymous women in wartime labor, exploring the lived experience of primary caregiving, and reimagining institutional authority through childlike play.

I grew up in the US, have lived in the Middle East and Canada, and now live in Calgary with my husband, our 6-year-old, and our doodle that’s more muppet than dog.

When I'm not playing board games with my hubby, I'm baking chocolate chip cookies (try using olive oil and lime zest!), reading, and making my own art.
