HELLO

Hi, my name is Carrie. I'm a visual artist and art educator, who has had work displayed in short term exhibitions at The Smithsonian and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

My artist practice is about highlighting and addressing gender norms, perfectionism and being a primary caregiver.

If you're primary caregiver sign up for Permission Slips, a 5-day audio and visual experience to acknowledge your nuanced, complex experience of being a caregiver.

I'm a new(ish) Mom to a strong, smart 4-year old, a furmom to a doodle that’s more muppet than dog, and currently live in Houston, Texas after 13 years in the Middle East and Canada.

When I'm not playing board games with my hubby, I'm baking chocolate chip cookies (try using olive oil and lime zest!), reading, and making my own art.

The Primary Caregiver Project

This community based project is born of my own experience giving birth to my daughter in March of 2020 without a village.

It made me acutely aware of the challenges caregivers face and the lack of social permission to discuss the harder, more complex parts of the experience.
