Each portrait is a conversation between myself (artist Carrie Brummer) and the person portrayed. Colors, patterns and gold leaf are important visual reminders that celebrate the divine feminine within us all.

I’ve returned to embroidery as an art form. It connects me to childhood as well as to a lineage of women who participate in this artform. Craft has a history of being work created by women.
These works are a return to celebrating textile work as a form of art and honoring the lineage of women that have come before us to create beautiful artworks with the use of needle and thread.
