We invented art before we invented human language. There is literally nothing more human I can think of than to practice art. Imagine in our early beginnings foraging for food, water, creating shelter and needing to protect oneself from neighboring tribes, but still finding the time to embroider, to make art. I grew up in a family where women spent time doing fiber work as an act of love. Reading up on the history of embroidery and seeing how it connects to my own practice has only further my resolve to continue to incorporate embroidery into my art. In A Brief History of Embroidery I reflect on all of these things. #embroidery #fiberart #womenempowerment #craftivism #dmcembroidery #artiststrong
